This April-May 2014 Southern & Western Ecuador Tour was the 21st FONT tour in Ecuador.

    The Pale-headed Brush Finch has been classified as a critically endangered species in Ecuador.

    A slight recovery in the tiny population of the Pale-headed Brush Finch has given some hope.
    As of 2010, it has increased from less than 20 to about 60 breeding pairs. 
    In 2012, the classification of the species by Birdlife International was changed to "endangered" from
    "critically endangered".
